For Paint Industry Double Groove Grindometer
The Fineness of Grind Gauge can be used for checking the particle size and the fineness of grind . The use of fineness gauge is to indicate the presence of coarse particles or aggregated particles in the dispersion.,it not for inspection the sze and the dispersion of the particles.
The fineness of grind gauge is produced strictly in accordance with GB / T 1724, GB/T6753.1, ISO1524 and other standards. It used to measure the particle size and dispersion for coating ,paint , lacquer paste, ink ,other liquid and paste pigment. And control the quality of the dispersion product during production ,storage and usage. This gauge is widely use in many field such as painting ,plastic ,pigment ,printing ink, paper ,ceramics, medicine, food and other field.
The fineness of grind gauge have groove on the surface of the flat steel block.The depth of the groove variate from one end maximum value to the other end zero value. Scale one or more of the groove depth on the steel block to read and meaure the particle size .
The level of dispersion indicated by microns or Hegman , the Hegman value will gradually change from 0-8 with the particle size getting smaller.
0 Hegman = 100 micron particle size; 4 Hegman = 50 micron particle size; 8 Hegman = 0 micron particle size.
Operate procedure:
- Place the gauge on a flat ,horizontal and non-Slip surface ,with the Zero mark on the scale closest to the user
- Place a suitable amount of material in the deep end of each groove .
- Place the scraper on the surface of the gauge behind the material .Use the both hands to hold the scarper
- Put the scraper along the length of gauge at a constant speed. Stop at a point beyond the zero depth
- View the draw out material within the next 3 seconds,This avoids inaccurate testing due to the evaporation of the material
The material should be viewed at right angles to the length of groove and at an angle of 20 degree to 30degree with the suface of the gauge.
- Find a band across the groove 3mm wide which contains 5 to 10 particles of the material
read the position of the upper limit of this band on the scale and record this value.
- Use a suitable solvent ,to clean the gauge and scraper
- Perform two more test and calculate the average value of the results
The average value is the fineness of grind of the material
