Chain conveyor should be considered whenever timing, transfer, or positive belt drive is important, such as for climb up inclines, under heavy loads, for long distances, through quenching liquids, cooking oils, or other slippery conditions.

They can provide efficient operation in applications where friction driven belts would not be desirable. Any mesh can be used in a chain driven construction, but the selection is made on the basis of what is needed to support the product.

Chain link conveyor  belt; 
A variation of the balanced weave, consisting of alternating left & right hand spirals compressed to create a very tight weave with a flat surface. Generally assembled with a straight connecting rod, but is available in limited specifications with a crimped connecting rod.

Selvages:

The standard edging for frictionally driven metal mesh belts is the welded selvage. For applications or belt constructions where weld are not desirable, a knuckled selvage may be used. A variation of the knuckled selvage, which provides a smooth outer edge as well as strength, is the ladder selvage. Other selvages can be produced to suit application needs.
