Hoodia Gordonii
Specifications
Hoodia gordonii (rich in P57)Hoodia gordonii is a leafless succulent plant which grows in the Kalahari Desert of South Africa and Namibia. In traditional use, the plant was used by local tribes-people to suppress appetite when making long hunting trips.
Scientists have found that this may be due to a unique molecule found in hoodia gordonii called P57. This molecule affects the hypolthalamus gland which is responsible for hunger. The hypothalamus is effectively fooled into thinking that the body is full with far lower levels of glucose.
Today hoodia gordonii is commonly used as a dieting aid, as its effect on the hypothalamus means that the desire to eat is reduced.
