Aluminum paste is a kind of obbligato metallic pigments. Its main components are flake aluminum particles and petroleum solvents. Its characteristics are slippery and smooth on surface, centralized particle distribution and with regular shape. These have made it own metallic luster and an excellent luminous reflectance. The paint film is obviously flicker along with angle while mixed with transparent color pigment, and shows a beautiful decorative effect. Aluminum pastes is mainly used in automotive coatings, light current plastic coatings, metal industrial coatings, marine coatings, heat resistant paints and roof coatings.
In the last couple years, aluminum paste products in our country have begun to use fine spherical aluminum powder as raw material, and we have made a great breakthrough technically, but we still can not reach the same level as similar products in foreign country on performance index and coating effect.
Aluminum paste is a kind of pigment, which is treated through special process on surface and makes the aluminum flakes become slippery on surface and of regularity shape. These make it match coating system very well. Aluminum paste can be divided into two major types, leafing and non-leafing. In the process of lapping, while one fatty acid is alternative to another, the pastes would obtain different appearances and characteristics. Aluminum flakes may shape like snow, scale or silver dollar.
In leafing pastes, an opaque silver film is formed near the paint film because of the orientation arrangement of aluminum particles. This opaque quality is the main element that makes leafing pastes become an important functional raw material. Leafing paste is usually applied in roof coatings, which has a higher recommend of protection, maintaining paints and commercial application paints. The appearance of leafing pastes could be various, which can change from rough and white to grey and highly reflective, with the different size of particles. The leafing paste with thick particles has the minimum coverage, and its structure is rougher, but users can get the whitest and brightest coating. On the other way, pastes with thin particles own the best coverage, the smoothest structure and the highest reflectivity.
Aluminum paste is not easy to catch fire or explode. The engineering requirements are coverage, shiny degree, trigger property, metallic property and the smoothness.
Application: widely used in plastic painting, hardware appliance painting, motorcycle painting and bicycle painting.
According to the directory of hazardous chemicals, aluminum paste belongs to 33646th type, which contains 2nd class flammable solvent, ancillary materials and paints. Because of the requirements for chemical products towards the safety and environmental protection from both international and domestic, domestic manufacturers change their techniques. They no longer use 2nd class flammable solvent as carrier but choose safe and environmental protected solvent with higher flash point. So in actual chemical properties, aluminum paste does not belong to dangerous goods any more.
