Incremental encoder and absolute encoder distinction
According to the working principle can be divided into incremental encoder and absolute categories.
Incremental encoder is to displacement into a periodic electrical signal, and then transform the electrical signal into a counting pulse, represents the magnitude of displacement by the number of pulses. Absolute encoders determine each position corresponds to a digital code, so it only shows the value of the starting and ending position measurement, but not to the middle of the process of measurement.
Incremental rotary encoder output pulse is rotated by counting device to know its location, when the encoder does not move or power outage, counting on internal memory to remember the location of the device. Thus, when the power failure, the encoder does not have any movement, when work calls, the encoder output pulse process, it can not have lost the pulse interference, otherwise, it will count the zero offset memory device, and this bias the amount of shift is no way to know in order to know the results only after the production error appears. shaft encoder
