1. Application

Aluminium Conductors are predominantly used in Overhead Line applications and for primary and secondary power distribution.

Bare AAC cable is used mainly in urban areas where the spacing is short and the supports are closer together.The advantage of bare AAC cable is that they have a high degree of corrosion resistance; for this reason they are used extensively in coastal areas.

Bare AAC cable were developed as a consequence of the galvanic corrosion that ACSR conductors are susceptible to.AAC has a better corrosion resistance, due to the fact that they are largely or completely aluminium.

2. Construction

Bare AAC cable are manufactured from electrolytically refined aluminium. They have a high level of purity; the minimum accepted level of aluminium is 99.7%. This product is also known as aluminium stranded conductor, as it is constructed of one or more strands of aluminium wire depending on the intended usage. As a consequence of this high level of purity, bare AAC cable are mainly used in areas where spacing is short and supports are close.
