Brief introduction of rod mill:
Rod mill is widely used grinding mill to grind all kinds of ore and rocks in metal and nonmetal mining, water conservation, building materials,sand making industry and so on. It grinds ore into coarse size.The output could be reach 0.3mm-2mm. It often worked in first-stage grinding before ball mill.
Rod mill is very similar to ball mill, except that it uses long steel rods with a diameter of 50-100mm as grinding media. The rods grind the ore by tumbling within the the mill, similar to the grinding balls in a ball mill.
Structure of rod mill:
The rod mill is composed by the cylinder part, feeding part, discharging part, main bearing part and driving part, which is similar with the other mills.
In order to prevent the steel rods generating chaos movement and ensure the regular movement of the steel rods, the ratio of the cylinder length and the diameter is generally about 1.5-2.0, and the internal surface of the lining plate on the end cap should be vertical with the level.
Rod Mill Working Principle:
When the rod mill working, the materials are sent to the hollow cylinder for grinding through the hollow shaft.There are all kinds of grinding media with different diameters installed in the cylinder. Rotation of the horizontal cylinder creates centrifugal forces which elevates the long steel rods to a certain height where they fall back, grinding the materials.
Three type of rod mill with different discharging:
Three main types of rod mill, overflow, end peripheral discharge, and center peripheral discharge only the overflow mill is in common usage.
