What is the difference between ASTM A36 and S235JR?
ASTM A36 is an American standard with minimum yield strength 250 MPa, while S235JR is a European standard (EN 10025-2) with minimum yield 235 MPa. Both are suitable for pressure vessel and boiler manufacturing, but A36 is more common in North America, and S235JR in Europe. Our plates can be supplied in either specification. -
Can these plates be used for high-temperature boiler applications?
Both grades are designed for general structural and pressure vessel use at ambient to moderate temperatures. For high-temperature service (above 400°C), we recommend consulting our technical team for alternative materials like heat-resistant alloy steels. -
