Product Introduction
The 304 Stainless Steel Plate with 2B finish is a cold-rolled austenitic stainless steel sheet manufactured in compliance with ASTM A240 / ASME SA-240 standards--. Grade 304, also known as 18/8 stainless steel, contains 18.0–20.0% chromium and 8.0–10.5% nickel, offering an optimal balance of corrosion resistance, formability, and weldability-. This product is supplied in the standard 1219×2438mm (4′×8′) sheet size with 2B finish—the most widely used stainless steel surface finish, achieved through cold rolling, annealing, pickling, and a final light cold-roll pass on polished rolls. Thickness ranges from 0.3mm to 3.0mm, with precision tolerances per ASTM A480.

1. Corrosion Resistance & Material Integrity
The 18.0–20.0% chromium content forms a protective passive oxide layer on the surface, while the 8.0–10.5% nickel content enhances overall corrosion resistance. This composition enables the material to withstand exposure to mildly acidic and alkaline environments, making it suitable for chemical, food processing, and marine-adjacent applications-. Carbon content is controlled at ≤0.08%, with 304L variants available with even lower carbon (≤0.03%) for welded applications requiring enhanced intergranular corrosion resistance.
2. Mechanical Performance & Formability
The material delivers tensile strength ≥515 MPa (typical range 515–720 MPa), yield strength (0.2% offset) ≥205 MPa, and elongation at break ≥40%. Hardness is maintained at ≤201 HBW or ≤92 HRB. The balanced austenitic structure enables severe deep drawing without intermediate annealing, a characteristic that has made Grade 304 dominant in the manufacture of drawn stainless parts such as sinks, hollow-ware, and saucepans. The material is readily brake or roll formed into a variety of components for industrial, architectural, and transportation applications.
3. 2B Surface Finish – Functional & Cost-Effective
The 2B finish is the most economical stainless steel surface finish, offering a smooth, semi-reflective, matte-like appearance with minimal surface roughness. It has been chemically pickled, which enhances corrosion resistance, and the smooth surface facilitates cleaning and resists fingerprinting in commercial environments. The finish is more readily polished than No. 1 or No. 2D finishes if further surface refinement is required.

Thickness tolerances per ASTM A480: 0.3–0.5mm: ±0.05mm; 0.5–1.0mm: ±0.07mm; 1.0–2.0mm: ±0.10mm; 2.0–3.0mm: ±0.15mm. Width tolerance: ±1.5mm for standard widths up to 1500mm; length tolerance: ±2.0mm for standard lengths up to 6000mm-28. Flatness: ≤3mm/m for sheets ≤1.5mm thickness. Custom sizes available upon request.

Food Processing Equipment – Used in brewing and winemaking equipment, kitchen benches, sinks, appliances, and food-grade workbenches. Meets food-grade standards, odorless and rust-free, suitable for direct food contact.
Chemical & Pharmaceutical Processing – Chemical containers, process vessels, tanks, and pharmaceutical processing equipment. The 2B finish provides a smooth, non-porous surface that resists chemical attack and facilitates sanitation.
Architectural & Construction – Architectural paneling, downpipes, gutters, and interior cladding. While not recommended for applications requiring exact finish uniformity, 2B is suitable for architectural installations where the finish will not be closely examined for uniformity.
Industrial Fabrication – Threaded fasteners, springs, automotive components, heat exchangers, and general industrial equipment. The material's weldability is outstanding—post-weld annealing is not required when welding thin sections.
HVAC & Refrigeration – Used in heat exchanger components and HVAC system fabrication due to its thermal conductivity (16.2 W/m·K) and thermal expansion characteristics.
