Reverse‑feeding Load Test (Back‑feed Dummy Load Test)
Reverse‑feeding load test is performed when the main generator is shut‑down for maintenance or commissioning. External power source feeds power backward to the station auxiliary busbar, while dry‑type resistive load bank acts as dummy load to consume power.
Test Purposes
Test temperature‑rise & current‑carrying capacity of station‑service transformers, busbars, switchgears and power cables without running main generator.
Verify over‑current protection, relay protection and automatic bus transfer device (BZT) logic.
Detect hidden faults such as poor contact and over‑heating at cable joints and bus‑bar connections.
Acceptance test for new‑built power plants & substations, and post‑overhaul inspection.
