6061 T6 offers higher strength (yield ~276 MPa vs. 160 MPa for 6063 T5) and better toughness, making it suitable for structural frames. 6063 T5 is more extrudable and often used for decorative profiles.
2. Can these tubes be welded?
Yes, 6061 aluminum is weldable using standard TIG or MIG methods. However, post-weld heat treatment may be required to restore T6 properties in the heat-affected zone. We recommend consulting with a welding engineer.
