The 316L disc contains molybdenum for added pitting resistance in chloride-rich atmospheres, a common requirement for shipbuilding and offshore platforms. The cast iron body is coated with a high-build epoxy (standard or optional) that passes salt spray tests, ensuring long-term integrity.
The spring-loaded dual plates provide very short closing time – typically less than 0.3 seconds – which significantly reduces backflow volume and water hammer pressure. This protects downstream equipment like pumps and valves from damage. Additionally, the low pressure drop (less than 3% at full open compared to a straight pipe) contributes to energy savings in continuous operation systems.

A: Yes, the 316L disc and epoxy-coated cast iron body provide excellent resistance to seawater corrosion. For extreme conditions, we recommend upgrading to a super duplex disc (available upon request). -
