What is the principle of the label turning red when exposed to water?
The surface of the label is printed with water-sensitive chromatic ink containing water-soluble red pigment wrapped by a water-soluble isolation layer.
In dry condition, the isolation layer covers the red pigment completely, showing white. Once water touches the label, the isolation layer dissolves in water, releasing the red pigment to turn the label red immediately. Most of these labels are irreversible and cannot turn white again after drying, widely used for water leakage and moisture damage warning.
