Cupstock paper is a type of paper specifically designed for making disposable cups.
Main characteristics:
Material & Thickness
Typically made from high-quality kraft paper or virgin pulp.
Thickness ranges around 170–300 gsm depending on cup size and intended use (hot or cold beverages).
The paper is stiffer than regular paper to hold shape when formed into a cup.
Coating
To make the paper waterproof and grease-resistant, it's coated.
PE-coated (Polyethylene): Common for cold and hot cups; provides a barrier against liquids.
PLA-coated (Polylactic Acid, biodegradable): For eco-friendly disposable cups.
PHA-coated: eco-friendly disposable paper cups.
Applications
Disposable paper cups (hot & cold drinks, ice cream).
Food packaging like bowls or small containers.
Key Properties
High wet strength: Doesn’t deform when filled with liquids.
Heat-resistant (for hot drinks).
Food-grade quality and sometimes FDA/EFSA compliant.

Double-wall or laminated cupstock: Extra insulation for hot beverages.
