Many factories have found during the cutting of angle steel that even though the sawing machine is fine, there are often issues with saw teeth pulling off, saw blade breakage, and the expected lifespan. In fact, the problem is often due to the mismatch between the saw blade specification and the tooth profile of the angle steel section characteristics. This article analyzes from a process perspective that the 3420 × 27 tensile teeth of the Hongshengjie cutting angle steel special bimetallic band saw blade are more suitable for continuous cutting of angle steel.
1、 Three major difficulties in sawing angle steel
Large section variation: Angle steel is composed of "thin walls on both wings+thick edges at the root", and the saw blade experiences large load fluctuations and is prone to vibration during cutting, piercing, and exiting.
Easy to break teeth and pull teeth: Fixed tooth pitch in thin-walled areas with too few meshing teeth, resulting in concentrated impact; Although the sharp tooth front angle is large, it has weak impact resistance, and the angle steel profile is prone to pulling the tooth tip.
High chip removal requirements: Structural steel has strong toughness, and chips are prone to block tooth grooves, causing overheating and tooth burning.
2、 Why choose "27mm width+tensile teeth"?
Moderate width of 27mm: The 3420mm perimeter sawing machine is often equipped with a 27mm wide saw blade, which is rigid enough to resist the lateral cutting force of angle steel without excessively increasing the tension burden, with small deflection and straight cutting surface.
Tensile teeth and impact resistance: Compared to pointed teeth, tensile teeth have flat tips and smaller front angles (such as around 5 °), resulting in higher root strength; Cooperate with variable tooth pitch (such as 4/6, 3/4) to avoid harmonic resonance, disperse impact loads, and significantly reduce tooth breakage rate.
Double metal structure ensures lifespan: M42 tooth tip (HRC67-68) is wear-resistant and red hard, with high fatigue strength of spring steel back, combining rigidity and flexibility, and has a longer lifespan than single material saw blades.
3、 Targeted design of Hongshengjie 3420 × 27 tensile teeth
Tooth pitch matching supporting role steel edge thickness: if the angle steel edge thickness is 2 – 5mm, 4/6 tension can be selected; Thicker or larger sizes can be selected with 3/4 tensile strength for smooth cutting.
Welding and heat treatment process: electron beam welding+overall/local heat treatment to eliminate internal stress and reduce early fracture.
Surface and tooth profile finishing: uniform and sharp tooth tips, stable tooth separation, low cutting resistance, and smooth cutting surface.
4、 Usage suggestion (extend lifespan)
The tension should be set according to the sawing machine manual, and should not be too loose or too tight;
Select appropriate cutting fluid, thoroughly cool and lubricate;
The angle steel clamping is stable to avoid cantilever vibration;
The new saw blade first undergoes low-speed light cutting "break in" before running at full load.
Summary: Angle steel cutting is not suitable for "universal coarse tooth sharp teeth", and a 27mm wide tensile tooth variable pitch bimetallic saw blade should be selected.
