Lab staff rooms come with a problem most changing areas don't have to deal with: chemical residue.
You walk out of the lab in your coat, brush against the locker door getting changed, and that trace of acid or solvent from your sleeve ends up on the cabinet surface. Do that a few times a week, and a regular painted locker starts showing it – bubbling paint, rust spots around the edges, discoloration that makes the whole room look run down before its time.
That's why lab lockers need a different spec than a school or gym locker. The surface coating isn't decorative. It's the primary defense.
What Makes a Locker "Chemical Resistant"
The powder coating we use isn't the same stuff you'd find on a cheap storage cabinet. Electrostatic powder coating bonds to the steel at a molecular level during the curing process. The result is a dense, non-porous surface that doesn't absorb liquids.
Spill a bleach solution on it during cleaning? Wipe it off, no trace. A splash of acetone or ethanol? Same thing. The coating is formulated to resist common lab disinfectants, mild acids, and solvents that would eat through spray paint or enamel in weeks.
The stainless steel hanging rods serve the same purpose. If someone hangs a lab coat still damp from a quick rinse, the stainless rod won't rust or pit. Cheap chrome-plated rods would. For a lab environment, these details aren't nice-to-have. They're the difference between lockers that last five years and lockers that last fifteen.

The door design also matters. Recessed handles mean nothing snags on lab coat sleeves or gloves. The ventilation grilles are at the bottom of each door, positioned to let air circulate without exposing interior contents to splash risk.
Each unit has pre-drilled anchor points if you need to secure them to the wall – common in earthquake-prone regions or facilities with vibration from lab equipment.

Not Suitable For
If your lab handles concentrated strong acids or bases regularly, consider stainless steel cabinets instead. Powder coating is chemical resistant up to a point, but stainless is the standard for high-risk chemical storage.
Also, if you're looking for cleanroom-rated storage (ISO Class 5 or above), this locker is designed for the staff room, not the cleanroom itself. The ventilation grilles allow air exchange that's fine for changing areas but not appropriate for controlled environments.
FAQ
Are these suitable for GMP-regulated facilities?
Yes – the powder coated surface is easy to clean and doesn't shed particles under normal use. Many of our customers are in regulated lab environments.
Can I get a different color? White is standard. Custom RAL colors available for bulk orders. For lab settings, we recommend sticking with white or light grey – dark colors make contamination harder to spot.
How are they shipped? KD flat pack in corrugated boxes with foam edge protection and moisture barrier wrap. Hardware bag included inside the panel stack.
Sample order? Yes – 1-5 units accepted. Test one before committing to volume.
