Product Description of Pressure Vessel Steel Plate
Pressure vessel steel plate refers to special steel plates specially used for manufacturing pressure vessels, boilers, storage tanks, reactors and other pressure-bearing equipment. Featuring high strength, excellent toughness, good weldability, stable performance at high/low temperature, as well as superior fatigue and crack resistance, it can operate reliably under harsh working conditions such as high temperature, high pressure and corrosive media. It is an essential safety material widely applied in energy, chemical, nuclear power and other industries.

2. Main Grades & Classification by Working Condition
2.1 Steel Plates for Normal Temperature Pressure Vessels (-20℃ ~ 350℃)
Q245R: Carbon steel with yield strength ≥ 245MPa. Applied to low-pressure storage tanks and boiler drums with cost-effective performance.
Q345R: Low alloy steel with yield strength ≥ 345MPa. It has optimal comprehensive properties and is the mainstream product for reactors, heat exchangers and LPG storage tanks.
Q370R / Q420R: High-strength grades with yield strength ≥ 370MPa / 420MPa. Suitable for medium and high-pressure equipment to reduce plate thickness and overall cost.
2.2 Steel Plates for Low-Temperature Pressure Vessels (-40℃ ~ -196℃)
16MnDR: Excellent low-temperature toughness at -40℃ (Impact energy ≥ 47J). Used for LNG storage tanks and low-temperature reactors.
09MnNiDR: Designed for ultra-low temperature down to -70℃, ideal for liquid ammonia and ethylene storage tanks.
9% Nickel Steel: Premium grade for -196℃ service, the core material for large LNG storage tanks with outstanding low-temperature toughness.
2.3 Heat-Resistant Steel Plates for High-Temperature Pressure Vessels (350℃ ~ 600℃)
15CrMoR / 14Cr1MoR: 15CrMoR for service temperature ≤ 550℃; 14Cr1MoR (equivalent to SA387 Gr11) for 350-480℃. Good creep resistance and resistance to high-temperature hydrogen corrosion.
12Cr1MoVR: Stable mechanical properties up to 580℃, widely used for utility boilers and high-temperature reactors.
2.4 Hydrogen & Corrosion Resistant Steel Plates
Q345R(HIC): Resistant to hydrogen-induced cracking, for service in wet hydrogen sulfide environments (oil refining and natural gas industry).
07MnCrMoVR: High strength and excellent crack resistance, applied to high-pressure hydrogenation reactors.
3. Typical Chemical Composition (wt%)

4. Mechanical Properties
4.1 Normal Temperature Properties (Q345R for Reference)
Yield Strength (Rel): ≥ 345MPa (thickness ≤ 16mm), slightly decreased with increased plate thickness
Tensile Strength (Rm): 470-630MPa
Elongation (A): ≥ 21%
Impact Energy (Akv): ≥ 47J at -20℃ (V-notch)
4.2 Low-Temperature Toughness (16MnDR)
Impact energy ≥ 47J at -40℃; ≥ 47J at -30℃ for plates over 60mm thick, effectively preventing low-temperature brittle fracture.
4.3 High-Temperature Strength (15CrMoR)
Yield strength ≥ 240MPa at 500℃, featuring excellent anti-creep and anti-relaxation performance under long-term high-temperature operation.
5. Dimensions & Delivery Condition
5.1 Size Range
Thickness: 6-250mm (Common specification: 8-100mm)
Width: 1500-3000mm
