Precision Steel Tube refers to seamless steel pipes produced by cold drawing or cold rolling with tight dimensional tolerances and excellent surface quality. Compared with ordinary steel pipes, precision steel tubes require no additional machining before use, significantly shortening component manufacturing cycles. They are widely used in industries demanding high dimensional accuracy and reliability.
Seamless Precision Steel Pipe is the most common type of precision steel tube. Typical foreign grades include German DIN 2391 (St 37.4, St 52.4), EN 10305-1 (E355), and American ASTM A519 (1020, 1026). These grades have different chemical compositions and mechanical properties, making them suitable for pressure-bearing applications such as hydraulic systems, pneumatic actuators, and fuel delivery.
Cold Drawn Precision Tube highlights the high dimensional accuracy and good surface finish achieved through the cold drawing process. The inner wall of the tube is free of scale with very low roughness, allowing it to be used directly in critical components like hydraulic cylinder barrels and plunger sleeves. Compared with traditional hot-rolled tubes, cold drawn precision tubes eliminate subsequent boring and honing operations, saving customers significant processing costs and lead time.
As a Hydraulic Precision Tube, precision steel tubes play a key role in construction machinery, injection molding machines, marine hydraulic systems, and mining equipment. For example, the St 52.4 grade from the DIN 2391 series is often specified as the material for hydraulic cylinder bodies due to its excellent weldability and tensile strength. Using precision steel tubes for hydraulic lines effectively reduces the risk of oil leakage and improves overall system safety and service life.
