Application of FRP anti-corrosion lining: FRP storage tanks, storage vessels, cement pool linings, and FRP linings (or outer coverings) for metal shells. Corrosion-resistant resin and glass fiber surface mat are used as the anti-corrosion layer, and unsaturated polyester resin and medium-alkali glass fiber cloth are used as the reinforcement layer. It has high corrosion resistance, good strength, and a long service life. It is widely used in storage tanks, pickling tanks, ion exchangers and other equipment in industries such as power, metallurgy, petroleum, chemical engineering, printing and dyeing, machinery, and environmental protection.  

FRP process for concrete anti-corrosion lining:   

1. Material selection and description of primer resin: CP95# vinyl resin (produced by Taiwan Swancor Fine Chemical Co., Ltd.) is selected.   Material description: CP95# vinyl resin is a special primer transition resin for concrete and FRP lining. It has strong adhesion to concrete and has replaced the previous epoxy resin transition.

2. Anti-corrosion layer: MFE-2# vinyl resin (from University of Shanghai for Science and Technology) is selected as the topcoat resin, and vinyl MFE-2# + air hardener is used.    Material description: MFE-2# is a vinyl ester resin. Corrosion resistance: Resistant to hydrochloric acid (31%), sodium hydroxide (30%), sodium hypochlorite (effective chlorine 17%), and can withstand temperatures below 60℃. Fiber selection: 450-gram alkali-free chopped strand mat and 30-gram glass surface mat (produced by the Glass Fiber Branch of Jinniu Group).  

Construction process:

1. Set up scaffolding, lay and fix the pedals.   Check the inner surface: Remove the concrete residues on the inner surface.    Inner wall treatment: Use electric tools to grind the smooth inner wall to remove protrusions, sweep away the floating soil on the surface, and ensure the inner surface is clean.  

2. Apply the primer layer: Evenly brush a layer of resin on the clean concrete surface. After it solidifies, carry out the next process.   3. Repair layer: Fill the pits on the inner surface with resin putty to prevent the formation of voids and bubbles during the FRP lamination process.   Apply the anti-corrosion layer: Use one layer of alkali-free chopped strand mat + one layer of glass surface mat. Require the fibers to be fully saturated, expel the air bubbles in the FRP, and compact it to make the surface smooth.   

4. Apply the topcoat layer: After the anti-corrosion layer is cured, use a polishing machine to remove the burrs, and evenly brush a layer of topcoat resin with 3% air hardener added.  

5. Inspection standards and acceptance: Provide the certificates and inspection reports of raw materials. The inner wall treatment shall be inspected according to the concrete base treatment in GB50212-2002. Inner surface inspection: The inner surface shall be smooth, free of impurities, fiber exposure, and visible cracks and delamination to the naked eye.

Construction standards: On-site construction and inspection shall comply with GB50212-2002 "Code for Construction and Acceptance of Building Anti-corrosion Engineering".   

 

Construction plan for anti-corrosion lining of iron tank with glass fiber reinforced plastic: 

Metal surface pretreatment: (1) Use tools such as electric grinding wheels, wire brushes, and sandpaper to grind and remove rust from the tank body and conical bottom. If the tank body has severe rust or oil stains, sandblasting is used for rust removal. (2) Pickling or sandblasting (quartz sand) 

Priming and puttying: Apply epoxy resin primer. 

Reinforcement layer laying: After the primer is dry, use the hand lay-up method for laying. The edges of the glass cloth must be trimmed. The glass cloth should be fully soaked and compacted, and the joints should be staggered by no less than 50mm. Alternately lay 1 layer of epoxy resin 04 glass cloth + 2 layers of structural resin chopped strand mat and 2 layers of structural resin 04 cloth. Lining layer laying: 1 layer of lining resin 04 glass cloth + 1 layer of lining resin chopped strand mat + 1 layer of lining resin surface mat. After the rubber material is dry, apply another layer of surface coating (250g/m2 lining resin). The lining resin and surface coating are food-grade resins. The general service life of the iron tank lining is 3 - 5 years, and it must be used continuously; otherwise, it is prone to blistering.
