Detailed Description of Petroleum Pipes

Petroleum pipes, also known as oilfield pipes, are core special steel pipes for oil and gas exploration and development. They mainly include Casing, Tubing, Drill Pipe and Line Pipe, widely used in drilling, well completion, oil and gas transmission and other projects. They can stably serve in underground environments with high temperature, high pressure, strong corrosion and complex stress conditions. 1. Main Classification & Applications

1.1 Oil Casing

It is steel pipe used to support oil and gas well walls, prevent well wall collapse, isolate formation fluids and protect wellhead facilities. It is a major consumable pipe accounting for over 70% of total oilfield pipe consumption.

  • Conductor Casing: Outermost layer, fix wellhead and prevent shallow stratum collapse, outer diameter: 406.4–508mm

  • Surface Casing: Isolate shallow water layer and protect fresh water resources, outer diameter: 244.5–339.7mm

  • Intermediate Casing: Separate complex formations such as salt rock and high-pressure water layer, outer diameter: 139.7–193.7mm

1.2 Oil Tubing

Suspended inside casing, used to transport underground oil and gas to the ground with reusable features. Classified into Non-upset Tubing (NU) and External-upset Tubing (EU) for different pressure working conditions.

1.3 Drill Pipe

Connect drilling rig and drill bit, transmit torque and circulate drilling fluid, including drill collar, kelly bar and other matching parts.

1.4 Line Pipe

Applied for long-distance oil and gas transmission on land and seabed, divided into seamless pipe and welded pipe (ERW/SAW).
