Hot-Rolled Steel Coil Detailed Product Description
1. Product Definition & Production Process
Hot-rolled steel coil is produced by heating continuous casting slab to 1100-1250℃, rolling through roughing and finishing mills into steel strip, then laminar cooling and coiling. It is rolled above material recrystallization temperature.
Production flow: Slab heating → Rough rolling → Finish rolling → Laminar cooling → Coiling → Finishing (optional).Surface feature: With oxide scale, slightly curved edge, normal thickness tolerance, no bright surface.
2. Main Specifications (GB/T 709-2019)
Thickness: 1.2-25.4 mm, regular size 1.5-12.7 mm
Width: 800-2000 mm, common width 1000/1250/1500/1800 mm
Coil weight: 15-30 tons, standard 18-22 tons
Inner diameter: 508mm (20 inch) / 610mm (24 inch)
Tolerance: Thickness ±0.1-0.3mm; Width 0~+5mm; Camber ≤2mm/m

5. Product Advantages & Disadvantages
Advantages
Low cost, large output, cheaper than cold rolled steel.
Good balance of strength and toughness, suitable for bending, punching, welding and stamping.
Complete specifications, sufficient wide and thick size supply.
Stable welding performance, not easy to crack.
Disadvantages
Rough surface with oxide scale, need pickling or sand blasting before painting.
Ordinary dimensional accuracy, not fit for high-precision parts.
Edge easy to produce burr after shearing.

7. Delivery Condition & Packaging
Delivery state: Hot rolled, pickled, oiled; full coil, slitted coil, leveled coil
Packaging: Wrapped with anti-rust paper, fixed by steel strips with edge protector. Mark coil weight, steel grade, batch number, size and production date on label.
8. Quality Inspection
Conventional inspection: Dimension check, surface inspection, chemical composition, mechanical property, cold bending test.Non-destructive test: Ultrasonic testing, eddy current testing on request.
9. Difference between Hot Rolled & Cold Rolled Steel Coil
Surface: Hot rolled with oxide scale; Cold rolled smooth and bright
Thickness: Hot rolled 1.2-25.4mm; Cold rolled 0.15-3.0mm
Precision: Hot rolled normal tolerance; Cold rolled high precision
Price: Hot rolled lower; Cold rolled higher
Usage: Hot rolled for structural parts; Cold rolled for precision stamping parts
