Tin Alloy Tin Plated Steel Raw Material Industrial Grade Tinned Coil
Product Spotlights
Tin-coated steel coil is a metal material with a wide range of applications in industry and daily life. By coating ordinary metal with a layer of tin, it imparts additional properties and uses.
Tinplate steel coil, commonly known as tinplate, is produced by electrodepositing a dense tin layer onto the surface of a cold-rolled low-carbon steel sheet substrate. The substrate is typically made of SPCC, MR steel, LK steel, etc. Among these, MR steel contains extremely low impurity levels, offering excellent corrosion resistance and formability, making it the preferred material for food packaging applications.
The tin coating weight is generally 1.0–2.8 g/m² (single side) , corresponding to a thickness of approximately 0.15–0.40 μm. The tin layer has a silvery-white appearance and offers good weldability, ductility, and corrosion resistance while being harmless to the human body. During production, tinplate steel coil also undergoes processes such as reflowing, passivation, and oiling to enhance tin layer adhesion, sulfur resistance, and overall corrosion resistance. The finished thickness typically ranges from 0.15 mm to 0.60 mm, with common widths between 600 mm and 1050 mm.
In terms of applications, tinplate steel coil is most widely used in food and beverage packaging, such as fruit cans, meat cans, milk powder cans, beverage cans, and aerosol cans. It is also used in the chemical industry for paint buckets and chemical containers, as well as in daily necessities such as stationery boxes, battery casings, CD boxes, and toy parts. Additionally, tinplate steel coil is widely used as shielding material for electronic components and in certain automotive parts. With excellent corrosion resistance, weldability, decorative appearance, and formability, tinplate steel coil remains one of the most important and mature materials in the modern metal packaging industry.
