C70600 is the most widely used 90/10 copper‑nickel (cupronickel) alloy, also known as BFe10-1-1 in China. It is a wrought, iron‑modified alloy renowned for its excellent seawater corrosion resistance, good mechanical properties, and cost‑effectiveness.
Nominal Composition (wt%, ASTM B111)
Cu: Balance (≈89%)
Ni + Co: 9.0–11.0% (primary alloying element)
Fe: 1.0–1.8% (critical for erosion‑corrosion resistance)
Mn: 0.5–1.0% (deoxidizer, improves hot workability)
Zn: ≤1.0%
Pb: ≤0.05%
Other impurities: ≤0.5% total

Outstanding resistance to seawater, brackish water, and chloride environments; low corrosion rate (
Excellent resistance to erosion‑corrosion, pitting, and biofouling in marine service
Stable protective oxide film formed in seawater

Tensile strength: 275–360 MPa
Yield strength: 105–140 MPa
Elongation: ≥28%
Hardness: 45–75 HB
Cold‑worked (H80): Tensile up to 585 MPa, Yield up to 485 MPa

Thermal conductivity: ~29 W/(m·K)
Melting range: 1099–1146°C (2010–2095°F)
Good thermal stability up to 300°C
Fabrication:
Excellent cold formability, good hot formability, and excellent weldability
Machinable with standard tooling; suitable for bending, flaring, and deep drawing
