CO2 Blasting Equipment That Can Replace Explosives
Carbon dioxide blasting (also known as carbon dioxide phase change fracturing technology) is a non-explosive physical blasting technique that utilizes the instantaneous phase change and rapid volume expansion of liquid carbon dioxide upon heating, generating high pressure to crack and fracture rock masses or coal seams.
Core Working Principle: Carbon dioxide blasting is essentially a physical process, not a chemical reaction:
Loading: Liquid carbon dioxide is filled into a specially designed steel fracturing tube.
Activation: A microcurrent ignites a heating activator inside the tube.
Phase Change: Liquid carbon dioxide rapidly absorbs heat and vaporizes within milliseconds, its volume expanding instantaneously by approximately 600 times.
Fracturing: The pressure inside the tube surges (typically reaching 200MPa to 600MPa), rupturing the pressure relief plate and releasing a high-pressure shock wave that creates a tensile stress field in surrounding objects, causing them to fracture.
Technical Advantages:
High Safety: The process does not produce open flames or harmful gases and is not subject to the regulations for civilian explosives (such as detonators and gunpowder). Therefore, it is commonly used in high-gas coal mines and other locations where smoking is strictly prohibited.
Environmentally friendly: No vibration, no dust, no fly debris, and no toxic gas pollution.
Simple management: Due to its physical explosive properties, it does not require complex administrative approval procedures for explosives (depending on local regulations).
Main application scenarios:
Mining: Eliminating outbursts and increasing permeability in coal mine faces, improving gas extraction efficiency.
Municipal engineering: Controlled blasting in highway and roadbed construction, especially in sensitive areas near buildings.
Special operations: Underwater blasting, tunnel excavation, cleaning steel slag or caking in chemical plant containers, etc.
