Polyvinyl alcohol is an organic compound with the chemical formula [C2H4O] n. It appears as a white solid in the form of flakes, flocs, or powders, and is odorless. Soluble in water (above 95 ℃), slightly soluble in dimethyl sulfoxide, insoluble in gasoline, kerosene, vegetable oil, benzene, toluene, dichloroethane, carbon tetrachloride, acetone, ethyl acetate, methanol, ethylene glycol, etc. Polyvinyl alcohol is an important chemical raw material.

2.Soluble in hot water at 90-95 ℃, almost insoluble in cold water.
3. The discoloration of polyvinyl alcohol during heating can be inhibited by adding 0.5% to 3% boric acid.
4.Good light resistance, not affected by light.
5.It has chemical reactivity such as esterification, etherification, and acetalization of long-chain polyols.
6.Open flames can burn and have a special odor. Non toxic, non irritating to human skin.
