SAVANT Micro Compensation Synchronous Tapping Tool Holder
Tapping is a necessary process in machining. Currently, there are mainly two types of tool holders for tapping: rigid tapping and flexible tapping. So there are two types of tool holders: rigid tapping tool holders and flexible tapping tool holders.
The flexible tapping tool holder has a great axial compensation function, which can well solve the problem of the out - of - sync between the spindle speed and the feed of the machine tool, especially when used on a radial drill. However, with the popularization of CNC machine tools, the disadvantages of the flexible tapping tool holder begin to gradually appear:
1. Low tapping efficiency;
2. The tapping depth cannot be accurately controlled (because the axial floating distance is often greater than 10mm);
3. Extrusion taps cannot be used for flexible tapping.
Rigid tapping is commonly used on CNC machine tools with synchronous speed and feed, and the advantages of rigid tapping compared with flexible tapping are:
1. Improved tapping efficiency;
2. Controllable thread depth;
3. Extrusion taps can be used.
However, rigid tapping has the following disadvantages due to the lack of compensation function:
1. The tap wears out quickly, and its service life is shorter than that of flexible tapping;
2. Due to the insufficient response speed of the CNC system, the machining efficiency is not high enough;
3. Rigid tapping requires high precision for equipment and tools.
In summary: Excessive compensation in flexible tapping and zero compensation in rigid tapping are likely to cause a series of problems.
