Galvanized steel decking is a widely used type of profiled steel sheet in modern steel structure buildings. It combines load-bearing capacity with permanent formwork functions, significantly improving construction efficiency and optimizing building structural performance.
① Product Definition and Construction
Galvanized steel decking, also known as galvanized profiled steel composite floor slab, refers to hot-dip galvanized steel sheets with a thickness of 0.8mm-2.0mm (zinc coating amount typically Z120g/m²-Z275g/m², i.e., the sum of zinc coating on both sides per square meter), rolled into a corrugated section with specific wave height, wave pitch, and effective width using a cold-bending forming unit.
Structural Example: Common types of floor decking include open, closed, and reduced-width types. For example, a project using YXB65-170-510 type closed-width floor decking has a wave height of 65mm, a wave pitch of 170mm, and an effective coverage width of 510mm. Closed-type floor decking, due to its closed box-shaped cross-section, provides better stiffness and shear resistance in composite floor slabs.
② Core Performance Parameters
Material and Strength: The base plate is typically made of Q235 or Q345 grade steel, with yield strengths of not less than 235MPa and 345MPa respectively (simply put, the maximum stress the material can withstand when it begins to undergo significant plastic deformation). The galvanized layer provides excellent corrosion resistance; Z275 galvanized floor decking can withstand corrosion for 15-25 years in general industrial and civil building environments.
Span Capacity: Before concrete pouring, as formwork during the construction phase, its span (i.e., the spacing between steel beams) should generally not exceed 3.0 meters; otherwise, temporary supports are required. For example, the YXB51-200-600 type open-type floor decking, with a thickness of 1.2mm and made of Q345 material, has a maximum unsupported span of approximately 2.4 meters.
Combined effect: After the concrete is poured, the floor deck and the concrete form a composite floor slab that shares the load. Taking an office building project as an example, using 1.0mm thick YXB65-220-660 type floor decks, and pouring 120mm thick C30 concrete on top, the fire resistance limit of the composite floor slab can reach 1.5 hours, meeting the design specifications.
