The graphite reactor is made of graphite material, such as impermeable graphite, which has excellent corrosion resistance and high-temperature resistance. By lining the metal vessel with graphite material, the excellent properties of graphite can be utilized, while the metal shell provides certain strength and rigidity. The graphite head of the graphite polymerization reaction vessel has an exhaust port in the center, and there are temperature measurement ports and manholes on both sides. The stirring paddle is rotatably set in the vessel to mix the reactants and ensure that the materials fully contact each other, thereby accelerating the reaction rate. To control the reaction temperature, heating and cooling devices are usually installed in the graphite reaction vessel. The heating methods can be electric heating or steam heating, and cooling is generally achieved by setting a cooling jacket outside the vessel and introducing cooling liquid. It has an inlet and outlet, which are used to add reactants to the vessel and discharge the reaction products.
The advantages of the graphite reaction vessel are mainly: excellent corrosion resistance, good thermal stability, high thermal conductivity, less surface scaling, and good chemical stability.
