Battery Energy Storage System (BESS)
The core principle of a photovoltaic water heater is that the photovoltaic modules convert solar energy into electrical energy, which is then used by electric heating elements to heat the water in the tank. It is different from conventional solar water heaters that directly utilize solar energy for heat collection.
The basic process is as follows: the photovoltaic panels absorb sunlight to generate direct current (DC), which is converted into alternating current (AC) by an inverter and then transmitted to the electric heater of the water heater; the electric heater generates heat when powered on to heat the cold water in the tank. Some systems are also equipped with energy storage devices to store excess electrical energy for hot water supply during non-sunlight hours.
