Polytetrafluoroethylene Buchner Funnel and Its Suction Filtration Device

The polytetrafluoroethylene Buchner funnel and its suction filtration device are instruments used in laboratories for filtration using vacuum or negative pressure suction. The sand core Buchner funnel has received good feedback from laboratory teachers. Compared with the PTFE Buchner funnel, the sand core can better fix the filter membrane, allowing the experimental samples to only pass through the filter membrane, avoiding problems such as collapse and ineffective filtration around the edges.

The Buchner funnel is in the shape of a flat cylinder with many small holes on the bottom surface of the cylinder. It is connected to a long and narrow cylindrical outlet below.

When using it, generally, first place a filter paper on the bottom surface of the cylinder, insert the funnel into the opening above the Buchner flask and seal the interface (e.g., with a rubber ring). Connect the side port of the Buchner flask (it is generally recommended to use polytetrafluoroethylene material) to the suction system. Then pour the solid - liquid mixture to be separated into the upper part. The liquid component is sucked into the flask under the action of negative pressure, and the solid remains on the upper part.

It is often used to extract crystals in organic chemistry experiments. In this case, after filtration, a small amount of pure solvent can be used on the upper part to wash off the impurities on the surface of the crystals.

Using the Buchner Funnel

First, wet the filter paper with water and suck it for a while to make the filter paper closely adhere to the bottom of the funnel, which can prevent the substances to be filtered from leaking. Pour in the filtrate, turn on the machine to suck, and you can stir slightly. Only the filtered substances remain (refer to "Experimental Chemistry" in high - school chemistry).

It is not feasible to directly use an ordinary funnel, attach a filter paper, and then connect it to a suction pump for suction filtration (to replace the polytetrafluoroethylene Buchner funnel). Because at the place where the four walls of the funnel are in close contact with the filter paper, negative - pressure suction filtration has no effect. Only a pressure difference is generated at the lower apex of the funnel. Since this opening is large and there is only one opening, it is easy to break. (The wet filter paper is not strong enough.)

Features of the Polytetrafluoroethylene Buchner Funnel:

1. It can replace the ceramic Buchner funnel on the market to avoid breakage.

2. Strong corrosion resistance: It can withstand strong acids, strong alkalis, aqua regia, magic acid, hydrofluoric acid and other organic reagents.

3. Pure white appearance, high - temperature resistance: The operating temperature ranges from - 200 to 250℃.

4. Anti - pollution: Low blank value of metal elements. The content of lead and uranium is less than 0.01 ppb.

5. Non - sticky surface, easy to clean.

6. It can be used for filtration using vacuum or negative pressure suction and can also be matched with a suction flask for vacuum filtration of crystals or coarse - grained precipitates in inorganic preparation, preventing corrosive solvents from splashing out.

7. Note: Buchner funnels of various specifications and supporting suction filtration devices can be customized according to customer requirements.
