I. Basic Introduction

The new SZ03 series UV crosslinking instrument is equipped with a UV energy program (Joules/cm2) control function, where a time integrator continuously monitors UV exposure. When the energy absorption value of the UV crosslinking instrument reaches the set value, the UV exposure will automatically stop.

        This instrument is a multi-purpose 254nm ultraviolet radiation system (also available with 312nm or 365nm options), primarily used for cross-linking and immobilizing nucleic acids on membranes. Using this instrument, nucleic acids can be immobilized on hybridization membranes within 30-60 seconds, and the hybridization signal is 5-10 times higher than that of traditional baking methods. Additionally, this instrument can also be used for DNA cleavage in agarose gels, RecA mutation screening, partial restriction endonuclease digestion of pyrimidine dimers, UV sterilization to eliminate PCR contamination, etc. (It is also widely used in UV sterilization, polymer UV treatment, and other aspects).


II. Product Features

To immobilize nucleotides on the membrane, the traditional method involves placing the membrane in a vacuum oven at 80°C for 2 hours. On a UV cross-linking instrument, it only requires a few seconds of exposure to 254nm ultraviolet light. The microprocessor can control the precise UV dosage, allowing nucleic acids to be immobilized on the hybridization membrane within 30-60 seconds

2. UV irradiation can enhance the hybridization signal by 5-10 times compared to traditional baking methods. Thanks to the UV crosslinking instrument's configuration of a UV energy programming system (Joules/cm2), where a time integrator continuously detects UV exposure, the irradiation will automatically stop when the energy absorption reaches the set value. Therefore, regardless of the intensity of the UV light source or time differences, the irradiation cycle exhibits excellent reproducibility.

III. Application Fields

It is primarily used for cross-linking and immobilizing nucleic acids on membranes. It can also be applied to DNA cleavage in agarose gel, RecA mutation screening, partial restriction endonuclease digestion of pyrimidine dimers, UV sterilization to eliminate PCR contamination, etc. It also has application value in UV sterilization, polymer UV treatment, and other aspects.
