BMW X1 Radar / PDC Control Module
Function
Processes echo signals from 6–12 ultrasonic transducers in the front and rear bumpers, calculates obstacle distance and relative speed in real time, and issues audible/visual warnings through the buzzer or centre display to enable semi-automatic parking and low-speed collision avoidance.
Exchanges data with the vehicle CAN bus, sharing information with the reversing camera, surround-view system and adaptive-cruise modules for fused environment perception.
Installation location
Main unit: right-hand side of the luggage compartment, under the spare-wheel foam tray.
Vehicles with adaptive cruise: an additional radar ECU is mounted inside the left or centre section of the front bumper.

Quiescent current:
Ultrasonic frequency: 40 kHz ± 1 kHz
Detection range: 0.2 – 1.5 m (side), 0.2 – 2.5 m (front/rear)
