1. Tantalum mesh features excellent mechanical properties, stable chemical properties, and a high dielectric constant of its surface oxide film, making it a key functional material in modern industries. Its corrosion resistance is comparable to that of glass. At medium temperatures (around 150 ℃), only fluorine, hydrofluoric acid, sulfur trioxide (including fuming sulfuric acid), strong alkalis, and certain molten salts can have an impact on tantalum mesh. Notably, its corrosion resistance is superior to that of titanium mesh and zirconium mesh. 2. With a melting point of 2996 ℃, tantalum mesh ranks as the third most refractory metal, following tungsten and rhenium. Despite its high melting and boiling points, its electron work function is lower than that of other refractory metals (e.g., tungsten mesh, molybdenum mesh). Due to its weak electron emission capability, it has been widely applied in the field of electric vacuum technology. |
Main Application Fields |
1. Tantalum mesh can withstand high temperatures and exhibits good strength and rigidity, making it a high-quality material for manufacturing heating components, insulation components, and loading vessels in vacuum high-temperature furnaces. 2. In the aerospace industry, tantalum mesh (together with niobium mesh) is used to produce engine components for aerospace aircraft, rockets, submarines, and other equipment—such as combustion chambers, combustion mesh ducts, and turbopumps. 3. As a premium aerospace material, tantalum wire mesh (along with niobium wire mesh) is utilized in rocket accelerator nozzles, spacecraft propulsion systems, nozzle valves, and related components. 4. Tantalum mesh can be used to manufacture capacitors and linings for armor-piercing bullets. 5. Featuring a small neutron capture cross-section, high thermal conductivity, and excellent strength, tantalum mesh is employed as a nuclear fuel cladding material, a nuclear fuel alloy additive, and a heat exchanger structural material in atomic reactors. |
