Description
The 3300XL25 mm transducer system consists of a separate 25 mm probe, extension cable and 3300XL25 mmProximitor sensor. An output of 0.787V/mm(20mVmil) gives the system a linear range of 12.7mm(500mils). Based on this linear range, the 3300XL25mm converter system is suitable for measuring small expansion (DE) caused by the difference in the growth rate of the rotor and the stator (housing) in medium and large turbogenerators.
Measuring differential tensors (DE)
Differential expansion measurements are made using two proximity sensors that observe a shaft ring or ramp at a certain distance from the thrust bearing. A typical sensor installation layout is:
Both sensors observe the same side of the collar.
Two complementary input sensors observe opposite sides of the collar effectively doubling the measured DE range.
Two transducers, in which at least one transducer observes the bevel on the rotor and the second one observes a separate bevel or a different location on the rotor to compensate for radial motion, this arrangement increases the measurement error but can measure a longer total DE distance than complementary measurements.
The criteria for selecting the mounting method are the available target size, the expected axial movement of the rotor and the type of DE target present in the machine (clasp vs. ramp) If the available clasp height is sufficient, the two sensors observe the same side
