This unit is a part of the VMIC series of devices from General Electric’s industrial automation division, which were then
purchased and acquired by Abaco Systems, and given widespread production there. These units are largely regarded as obsolete
pieces of equipment, and have since been taken out of production entirely. The VMIVME-6015 module is a quad-serial input and
output (I/O) Interface board module.
This four-channel multifunctional peripheral interface board, designed with several of the standard VMIC features within the unit.
The VMIVME-6015 model is outfitted with the necessary components to satisfy a wide variety of serial data communication
requirements in VMEbus systems. The basic function of the VMIVME-6015 is a serial to parallel/parallel to serial controllers.
The VMIVME-6015 module is software configurable so that the characteristics may be optimized for any given serial data
communications application. The VMIVME-6015 module was designed to handle asynchronous protocols, synchronous byte-oriented
protocols (such as an IBM BiSync), and synchronous bit oriented protocols (such as HDLC and IBM SDLC).
