Hastelloy B3 nickel-molybdenum alloy plate, rod, N10675 nickel-based seamless pipe


Hastelloy B3 (UNS N10675) is a nickel-based superalloy renowned for its exceptional corrosion resistance and 

high-temperature stability. Its primary components are nickel (approximately 65%), molybdenum (27%-32%), 

chromium (approximately 1.5%), and iron (approximately 1%). Its core properties include:


Corrosion Resistance


It performs exceptionally well in strong acids (such as hydrochloric acid and sulfuric acid) and reducing media

 (such as hydrobromic acid and acetic acid), making it particularly suitable for chemical equipment containing chloride 

solutions. The MoO₂ passivation film formed by oxidation of molybdenum on its surface protects against hydrochloric acid 

corrosion, while the addition of titanium reduces susceptibility to intergranular corrosion.


Structural Stability


The molybdenum content range (27%-32%) is optimized through atomic-level design to prevent β-phase precipitation. 

The addition of titanium forms nano-sized TiC particles, reducing intergranular corrosion susceptibility in the weld

heat-affected zone by 60%. It maintains excellent ductility even at temperatures up to 700°C and maintains good machinability 

even when exposed to intermediate temperatures (700-800°C). ‌


Applications

Widely used in acidic wastewater treatment equipment, reaction vessels, 

and piping systems in the chemical and petrochemical industries. 

It performs particularly well in treating mixtures containing 20% hydrochloric acid and 500 ppm Fe₃⁺,

 with a service life of up to five years.


Processing Characteristics

Cold forming requires higher pressure or step-by-step forming, 

while hot forming requires temperature control to avoid the formation of brittle phases. 

GTAW is recommended for welding, and the oxide film must be thoroughly removed to avoid weld defects.
