The chemical and physical properties of nylon 6 are very similar to those of nylon 66, however, it has a lower melting point and a wide process temperature range. Its impact resistance and solubility are better than nylon 66 plastic, but its moisture absorption is also stronger. Because many quality characteristics of plastic parts are affected by hygroscopicity, this should be fully taken into account when using nylon 6 to design products. In order to improve the mechanical properties of nylon 6, a variety of modifiers are often added. Glass fiber is the most common additive, and sometimes synthetic rubber is added to improve impact resistance, such as EPDM and SBR. For products without additives, the shrinkage rate of nylon 6 plastic raw materials is between 1% and 1.5%. The addition of glass fiber additives can reduce the shrinkage rate to 0.3% (but slightly higher in the direction perpendicular to the process). The shrinkage rate of molded assembly is mainly affected by the crystallinity and hygroscopicity of the material. The actual shrinkage rate is also a function of the plastic part design, wall thickness and other process parameters. Nylon 6 injection drying treatment Because nylon 6 is easy to absorb water, so special attention should be paid to drying before processing. If the material is supplied in a waterproof packaging, the container should be kept airtight. If the humidity is greater than 0.2%, it is recommended to dry in hot air above 80 ° C for 16 hours. If the material has been exposed to air for more than 8 hours, it is recommended to vacuum dry at 105 ° C for more than 8 hours.

Cylinder constant temperature: 220℃ Mold temperature: 60-100℃. Mold temperature significantly affects crystallinity, which in turn affects the mechanical properties of plastic parts. Crystallinity is very important for structural components, so it is recommended that the mold temperature is 80~90 ° C. For thin-walled, long process plastic parts, it is also recommended to apply a higher mold temperature. Increasing the mold temperature can improve the strength and stiffness of the plastic parts, but reduce the toughness. If the wall thickness is greater than 3mm, it is recommended to use a low temperature mold of 20~40℃. For glass reinforced material mold temperature should be greater than 80C. Injection pressure: 100-160MPa (1000-1600bar), if it is processing thin surface long runner products (such as wire ties), it needs to reach 180MPa (1800bar). Holding pressure: 50% of injection pressure; Because the material sets relatively quickly, a short holding time is sufficient. Reducing the holding pressure can reduce the internal stress of the product. Back pressure: 2-8MPa (20-80bar), need accurate adjustment, because the back pressure is too high will cause uneven plasticization. Injection speed: Relatively fast injection speed is recommended; The mold has good ventilation, otherwise there has been coking on the product. High speed (slightly lower for enhanced materials). Screw speed: screw speed is high, linear speed is 1m/s; However, it is best to set the screw speed low, as long as the plasticizing process can be completed before the end of the cooling time; Low screw torque required. Measuring range: 0.5-3.5D Amount of residual material: 2-6mm depending on the metering stroke and screw diameter. Pre-drying: drying at 90℃ for 4h, except feeding directly from the loading container; Nylon is absorbent and should be kept in moisture-proof containers and closed hoppers; Water containing more than 0.25% will cause molding changes
