The 31000/32000 Proximity Probe Housing Assemblies are recommended for mounting proximity probes through the machine case and are typically used for radially mounted transducers, whether for vibration or Keyphasor measurements. When measuring radial vibration, ensure the machine casing is affixed to the bearing to obtain an accurate relative vibration signal. For shaft axial position measurements using dual proximity probes, use housing 21022 instead; refer to datasheet 141601 for details. Using a proximity probe housing allows external access to the probe and its extension cable, enabling gap adjustment or probe replacement without machine disassembly. The 31000/32000 housing is made of polyphenylene sulfide (PPS), a high-strength thermoplastic with excellent corrosion resistance. Other components of the assembly are made from corrosion-resistant stainless steel. The housing can be ordered with pre-installed 3300 XL proximity probes and a variety of conduit fittings. The 31000/32000 Proximity Probe Housing Assembly fully complies with the American Petroleum Institute’s (API) 670 standard for externally mounted proximity probe housings. When used with an approved transducer system and appropriate intrinsic safety barriers, it is suitable for intrinsically safe hazardous area applications. |
