Product Description
Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Certification: Attention, companies exporting toys and electrical appliances! A must-have for exporting to the Middle East!
GCC stands for the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). Established in Abu Dhabi, UAE, in May 1981, its member states include Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, the Sultanate of Oman, the Kingdom of Bahrain, and the Republic of Yemen. GCC certification specifies the certification requirements that specific products must meet to enter the regional market.

Certification Based on Regulations and Standards
GCC certification is based on the unified standards and technical regulations established by the Gulf Standards Organization (GSO). These regulations and standards align with internationally accepted standards in areas such as electrical safety, electromagnetic compatibility, and the restriction of hazardous chemicals, but also incorporate specific provisions tailored to the specific circumstances and needs of the Gulf region. For example, in terms of electrical safety, strict requirements are imposed on the grounding and insulation performance of electrical products to prevent electric shock accidents. In terms of electromagnetic compatibility, electromagnetic interference generated by products is limited to ensure proper operation in the intended environment and without disrupting other equipment.

Certification Process
1. Application Submission: Applicants submit an application to a GCC-approved certification body, along with detailed product information such as product specifications, technical drawings, and parts lists, as well as relevant qualifications of the applicant and manufacturer, such as business licenses and production permits.
2. Product Testing: The certification body will send samples to a designated laboratory for comprehensive product testing according to GSO standards. Testing items vary depending on the product type. For example, electronic and electrical products require electrical safety and electromagnetic compatibility testing; toys undergo physical, chemical, and electrical safety testing. For example, electronic and electrical products require testing for stability under different voltages and insulation resistance.
3. Review and Evaluation: The certification body conducts a comprehensive review and evaluation of the application and product based on the test results. If the test results do not meet the standards, the applicant must make corrections to the product and resubmit for testing.
4. Certificate Issuance: After passing the review, the certification body will issue a GCC certification certificate for products that meet the requirements.

GCC Certification Product Scope
The mandatory catalogue covers 14 common product categories, such as:
Household appliances: air conditioners, refrigerators, microwave ovens, electric fans
Power supplies: plugs and sockets, chargers, extension cords
Kitchen appliances: induction cookers, juicers, toasters
Other products: Toys (all toys are subject to mandatory certification!)
⚠ Tip: You can use the HS customs code to check whether your product is on the mandatory list.

GCC Certification Requirements
1. GCC certification certificates are valid for three years and can be extended or amended within the validity period.
2. After obtaining certification, importers must affix the GCC logo and the corresponding GCC certificate of conformity number to each product.
3. GCC certification does not require factory inspections or product inspections. Certification is issued after testing is completed. After obtaining the certificate, you can directly apply for product inspection and obtain the Saudi SASO certificate.
4. The GCC mandatory product catalogue allows you to use the HS customs code to check whether your product is subject to mandatory certification (all toys are subject to mandatory certification).

GCC Certification Documents
1. Application Form;
2. Instructions, nameplate, and bilingual Declaration of Conformity in Arabic and English;
3. Factory Quality Management Documents (Manufacturer's ISO9001 and Business License);
4. Declaration of Conformity, Risk Assessment Report;
5. Trademark Registration Certificate and Letter of Authorization (if the trademark is not owned by the applicant);
6. If the applicant is applying with a CB Test Certificate, a CB test certificate and report valid within the past three years must be provided;
7. Safety Test Report and EMC Test Report;
8. Declaration of Conformity from the manufacturer and importer;
9. Product and nameplate photos;
10. Electronic and mechanical schematics.
