Description:
The crane industry uses both hydraulic rotary unions and electrical slip rings, and when appropriate, integrated fibre optic rotary joints (FORJs) and high accuracy encoders for slewing. Slip rings are used where the turning movements above 360° are required and where a drag chain would hinder movement. Slip rings are primarily used in crane technology for power and data transmission. Under heavy-duty conditions, all rotating components of the cranes (e.g. jib arms and grabs) must be reliably supplied with power and data in indoor and outdoor applications.
