Product Description:
Polyquaternium-1 is a very safe preservative, which shows very low acute toxicity in rats.Polyquaternium-1 is slightly toxic orally (LD50> 4.47 ml/l at 40% active in rats). Polyquaternium-1 is not irritating to skin at 40%. The product is not a skin sensitizer and is non-mutagenic.
Polyquaternium-1 is a detergent-type preservative derived from BAK,also named as Polidronium Chloride,PQ-1.Polyquaternium-1 is formulated in the mid of 1980s by Alcon as a preservative for contact lens storage solutions.Nowadays,it is being increasingly used as a presverative in ophthalmic drops for glaucoma, artificial tear solutions and top cosmetic formuations.
Polyquaternium-1 is a cationic polymer prepared by the controlled polymerization of dimethylamine and bis-dichlorobutene, end capped with tris-b-Hydroxyethylamine.

Applications:
Polyquaternium-1is an antimicrobial preservative, with higher antimicrobial effects and lower ocular irritation.used as bactericide in eye drops,soft lenses product and other ophalmic care products formulation.In skin care formulations,it can help to avoid or reduce the allergy and infection possibility.
