Epoxy board, also known as epoxy laminate, is a kind of composite material with excellent comprehensive performance. The following is a detailed introduction: Definition and Composition An epoxy board is mainly composed of epoxy resin and fiberglass cloth. Epoxy resin, the matrix material, is an organic polymer compound containing two or more epoxy groups in its molecular structure. Fiberglass cloth, the reinforcing material, is made by weaving fiberglass yarns. Besides, additives like curing agents, fillers and coupling agents may be added to meet different performance requirements. Properties Excellent Electrical Insulation: Epoxy boards have high dielectric strength, low dielectric constant and low dielectric loss, which can effectively prevent the passage of electric current and are widely used in the electrical and electronic fields as insulation materials. High Mechanical Strength: Reinforced by fiberglass cloth, epoxy boards have high tensile strength and bending strength, and can maintain good shape stability under the action of external forces. They can withstand certain pressure and impact without being easily deformed or broken. Good Chemical Resistance: Epoxy resin has good resistance to various chemical substances such as acids, alkalis and salts. Therefore, epoxy boards can maintain stable performance in different chemical environments and are not easily corroded. Good Heat Resistance: Ordinary epoxy boards can generally work stably in the temperature range of -55°C to 155°C. Some high-performance epoxy boards can even withstand higher temperatures. Low Water Absorption: Epoxy boards have relatively low water absorption, which can maintain their performance stability in humid environments and avoid problems such as reduced insulation performance and mechanical strength caused by water absorption. Applications Electrical and Electronic Field: They are used as insulating partitions, gaskets and brackets in transformers, motors, relays and other equipment. They are also used as substrates for printed circuit boards (PCBs), especially in the manufacture of high-frequency circuits and multilayer boards. Industrial Equipment and Machinery Manufacturing: They can be made into mechanical parts such as gears, bushings and bearings, and are used as protective covers for electrical equipment and supports for chemical equipment. Aerospace and Transportation: In the aerospace field, they are used to make lightweight parts such as aircraft seat frames and bulkheads. In the automotive field, they are used in engine control units (ECUs) and sensor brackets. In the shipbuilding industry, they are used in the electrical distribution cabinets and lighting systems of ship cabins.
