The fine camelhair fiber can be as fine as 15 to 18 microns in diameter. The superfine fiber and edgeless quality give it a very soft feel. Furthermore, because fine camel downy fiber is hollow inside, it is lighter in weight. Fine cashmere fiber offers the enormous comfort of being soft, tight-fitting yet not sticking to the body.
The output of raw fine camel downy fiber is about one tenth of that of fine goat fiber, and only 5/10,000 of that of sheap wool. So it is a rare resource unique to China. The golden Badanjilin Desert and the Tenggeli Desert in China's Alashan region of Inner Mongolia are the only production seat of fine baby camel downy fiber which fit the criteria. Only baby camels below the age of three can yield fine downy fiber comparable to that of cashmere, and the total annual output can only supply enough stuffing for 10,000 quilts. The extremely high value of products using fine baby camel downy fiber is derived from its rarity and peerless superb quality. The quilt is an ethnic-developed eco-friendly product unique to China.
