In the early days, due to the fact that this type of compressor was only suitable for low, medium pressure, and high flow situations, it was not noticed by people. Due to the development of the chemical industry and the establishment of various large-scale chemical plants and refineries, centrifugal compressors have become a key machine for compressing and transporting various gases in chemical production, occupying an extremely important position.

 

 

 

 

(1) Horizontal split centrifugal compressor

This type of compressor has a horizontal dividing surface that divides the cylinder into upper and lower halves, which are connected by bolts at the dividing surface. This structure is easy to disassemble and is suitable for medium and low pressure applications.

(2) Cylindrical centrifugal compressor

The cylindrical compressor has two layers of cylinders, inner and outer. The outer cylinder is cylindrical with end caps at both ends. The inner cylinder is vertically divided and assembled before being pushed into the outer cylinder. This structure has high strength, good sealing performance, and good rigidity, but it is difficult to install and inconvenient to maintain. It is suitable for high-pressure or situations that require good sealing performance.

(3) Multi axis centrifugal compressor

It is driven by a large gear in a gearbox, which drives several small gear shafts. One or both ends of each shaft are equipped with a first stage impeller, which enters the air axially and discharges radially. The impellers are connected to each stage through pipelines. This structure is simple, small in size, and suitable for compression of medium to low pressure air, vapor, or inert gases.

As a result, they can replace reciprocating compressors in many occasions and greatly expand their application range. The pressure of industrial high-pressure centrifugal compressors ranges from (150~350) × 105Pa, while the pressure of centrifugal compressors used for gas injection in offshore oil fields can reach up to 700 × 105Pa. As a centrifugal blower used for blast furnace blowing, the flow rate can reach up to 7000m3/min, the power is 52900KW, and the speed is generally above 10000r/min.
