Stearic acid
Stearic acid, white or yellowish white solid, soluble in alcohol and acetone, easily soluble in ether, chloroform, benzene, carbon tetrachloride, carbon disulfide, amyl acetate and toluene, melting point 69.6℃, is one of the main components of oil. Melting point 67-72 °C (lit.), boiling point 361 °C (lit.), density 0.845 g/cm3, vapor pressure 1 mm Hg (173.7 °C), refractive index 1.4299, flash point >230 °F.

Product application
Stearic acid is widely used in cosmetics, plastic plasticizers, release agents, stabilizers, surfactants, rubber vulcanization accelerators, water repellents, polish agents, metal soaps, metal mineral flotation agents, softeners and other organic chemicals. Stearic acid can also be used as solvent of oil soluble pigment, crayon smoothing agent, waxed paper polishing agent, emulsifier of stearic acid glycerin, etc. Stearic acid is also widely used in the manufacture of PVC plastic pipes, plates, profiles and films, and is a heat stabilizer of PVC, with good lubricity and good light and heat stabilization. Applied in PVC pipes, stearic acid helps to prevent "coking" during processing and is an effective heat stabilizer in PVC film processing, while preventing discoloration of the finished film caused by exposure to sunlight. Stearic acid has become a functional additive for lubrication, plasticizing and stabilization of modified masterbatch. Stearic acid can effectively improve the coating activation effect of inorganic powder and increase the fluidity of the material. When the material with an absolute proportion of inorganic powder requires a large melt flow rate, appropriately increasing the content of stearic acid can significantly increase the melt flow rate of the material. Stearic acid mono or polyol esters can be used as cosmetics, non-ionic surfactants, plasticizers, etc. Its alkali metal salt is soluble in water, is one of the main components of soap, other metal salts can be used as waterproofing agents, lubricants, paint additives and polyvinyl chloride stabilizer.
