In the laboratory, cell samples need to be placed in liquid nitrogen for cryogenic storage. However, some samples must not only be cryopreserved, but also stored in the gas phase without contact with liquid nitrogen. The former can be solved with a conventional liquid nitrogen tank, and the latter can also be solved with a gas-phase liquid nitrogen tank. However, the capacity of gas phase tanks is relatively large, above 350 liters, and the samples that laboratories need to store in gas phase are not always large. When the quantity is small, using gas phase tanks to store it is really overkill. So, how to preserve these samples?
There is a small gas-liquid nitrogen tank, you can also call it a small gas-liquid tank! It is also specially used for gas phase storage of stem cells, embryos, semen, and other biological samples. Its gas-phase preservation principle is very simple. It is based on the characteristics of liquid nitrogen, having a boiling point of -196.56°C under normal pressure and the natural formation of nitrogen. The area of the small gas-liquid phase liquid nitrogen tank is divided into two. Liquid nitrogen is placed at the bottom, and the sample is frozen. The rack is suspended above the liquid nitrogen, and with the help of the natural volatilization of the liquid nitrogen, a low-temperature environment is formed in the container.
