Sodium L-pyroglutamate
Sodium pyrrolidone carboxylate (known as PCA-Na) is a naturally occurring substance found in the skin and is an amino acid derivative with the chemical formula C5H6O3NNa. It is soluble in water and ethanol, but insoluble in oil. It has relatively strong hygroscopic property and can also absorb moisture from the air. It is used as a moisturizer in cosmetics, and its moisturizing ability is stronger than glycerin, propylene glycol, sorbitol and other traditional moisturizers.
