HIPS Plastic Decorative Sheet Equipment

Extrusion of films, sheets and profiles is a much-used processing and moulding method for HIPS. Impact resistant polystyrene has a wide processing range, making it one of the easier resins to thermoform. The melt temperature of the resin is generally 400-500°F using ordinary extrusion equipment, and the melt index of the resin ranges from 1.5 to 4.0 g/10 min. Rotary, tandem, and shuttle pressure and vacuum thermoforming equipment are also frequently used. HIPS has excellent thermal and shear stability and is able to accept large amounts of recycled materials without degrading product performance, with up to 60% recycled materials used in thermoforming processes.
