BBC Brown Boveri MSR04X1 serial communication module communication, network and interface function moduleIndustrial standard for serial communication connection of riguard SC300E MSR04XI serial communication module (MSR04XI) No.8, October, 2005 Introduction and technical data Purpose The serial communication module provides serial interface between SC300E, which at least conforms to the standard RS232-C environment and must be used in various remote equipment systems, and installed in the slot 10 to support the communication between the system processor and the main chassis workstation. Workstation links are used to load application software and monitor ladder and diagnostic functions. The link uses port 0 of the module. The add-on module can be applied to any other I/O slot, and "wrong slotting" can be prevented by mechanical coding block (Figure 2-1). The system software identifies the module through the built-in hardware identifier. Circuit triplication and voting procedures make the module single fault-tolerant and the front panel indicator displays Tx/Rx activity, circuit online status and module health status. Communication connections are made through four identical ports (ports 0 to 3) on the front panel. These connections are replicated on the field connector (J2) at the rear. The fifth port is formed for diagnostic purposes only. There is a switch on the compatibility panel of the module with "single slot hot repair" and front end, which can request the module to go offline.
