TPasswords and related settings can limit the operation of the frequency converter from HIM. Although limiting the operation of the frequency converter may be for safety reasons, it is also possible to limit the control of the motor for operational reasons. For example, it may not be desirable to start the motor at the HIM on site and then alarm the operators in the control room. Many manufacturers' password settings can restrict any unauthorized user login while maintaining the visibility of parameters.
It is best to collaborate with factory and engineering personnel responsible for safety, security, and operations to determine the optimal application of these safety measures.
By setting an appropriate frequency jump, the frequency converter will skip 40 Hz and prevent these vibrations. Although some equipment manufacturers may identify resonant frequencies, they are more discovered through experience. There may be additional relevant parameters indicating the frequency band, so the frequency converter will not stay within a certain range.
Programmable graphical interface settings
Generally speaking, large frequency converter manufacturers will provide matching small programmable LCD human-machine interface modules (HIMs). Although the default settings may be applicable to certain applications, this module is usually programmable to display different values on the display or customized according to customer needs. The following are three most useful settings, namely display values, display units, and passwords, but parameter names may vary depending on the frequency converter manufacturer.
1. Display value
Most frequency converters have default factory settings for HIM to display motor speed. Some applications may need to display other values. For example, in many hybrid applications, motor power varies with viscosity. Displaying the power supply on HIM will allow operators to determine the degree of product mixing without the need to display it on the monitoring and data acquisition (SCADA) system in the control room. The best method to determine the ideal display value is to understand the process, options, and preferences of factory operators. Depending on the manufacturer, operators can also view frequency, current, custom messages, or calculated values.
2. Display unit
Only when the correct process information is displayed in the correct units can the value of HIM be optimized. In some cases, it is simple to simply change the display to display values in metric units, such as liters per minute instead of gallons per minute. In other cases, it may be necessary to adjust the values to match the SCADA and HMI screens to display speed percentage instead of RPM
